Last min ignite perp

Tomorrow we are going to have our ignite talk and I just wanted to do a little rehearsal  Good morning classmates my name is Erica, and today I will share my Big Question with you. Honestly, I change my big question, the first one I had was about dreams but since we already had a classmate working on that same question I decide to change mine. My question now is "Are curses/spells witches and wizard real? do they exist?" The witches from Macbeth got me into thinking about this question. Because from where I come from these things do exist that's why I decide to do a little more research on his topic. On spring break I visit my aunt and while we were there she mentioned that her baby was sick really badly and that she wanted to know if anyone knows a guy (wizard) that is good with those things because they had hired one previously and that it was no use because the baby is still sick. That's when I learned that there are some wizards better than others. next I am pl...

BRAVE NEW WROLD THEME

It's easier to be part of society and part of their label than to be an individual and be considered an outcast. in "Brave New World", everyone tried to be part of society all thought the society was not a good society. For example, Linda didn't want to live outside where everyone had to think for them sleeves and do things there way. There was Bernard who was thinking a bit different than the others and they society were saying that he wasn't normal and that alcohol was poured into him accidentally. Then there was Helmholtz who wanted to read and even write a book but he couldn't. John was the only one who had tried to change the way the society was...

Ignite talk

My big question now is: Are curses/spells real? Over soring brak I visit my aunt, when we were there she mentioned that my baby couis (her 6 month baby) was sick badly and they had asked his guy to helped them figure out what was wrong with the baby, they also mention that the last time the had asked the guy there was no change at all and that he charges too much that's when my uncle said that he knows a different guy that is really good. Because he had cured them before. That's when I learned that some are better than others. And that got me thinking about the witches in Macbeth maybe if we believe in the wizard then their prediction will become true. Next, I want to talk to this old little lady from my hometown who know how to left up cures and all of this thing.

BNW LAST CHAPTER

Bernard and Helmholtz say good-bye to John. Bernard apologizes for the scene in Mond’s office. John asks Mond if he can go with them to the islands, but Mond refuses because he wants to continue “the experiment.” Later, John chooses to seclude himself in an abandoned lighthouse in the wilderness. He plants his own garden and performs rituals of self-punishment to purge himself of the contamination of civilization. One day, some Delta-Minus workers see John whipping himself. The next day, reporters come to interview him. John kicks one reporter and angrily demands they respect his solitude. The newspapers publish the incident and more reporters flock to John’s home. He reacts to them with increasing violence. One day he thinks longingly of Lenina and rushes to whip himself. A man films the scene and releases a sensationally popular feely. Fans of the feely soon visit John and chant, “We want the whip.” As the crowd chants, Lenina steps out of a helicopter and walks toward him, arms...

BNW CH. 17

As Helmholtz leaves to check on Bernard, John and Mustapha Mond continue their philosophical argument. Whereas their conversation in Chapter  16  covered human experiences and institutions that the World State has abolished, in Chapter  17  they discuss religion and religious experience, which have also been expunged from World State society. Mond shows John his collection of banned religious writings, and reads aloud long passages from the nineteenth-century Catholic theologian, Cardinal Newman, and from the eighteenth-century French philosopher, Maine de Biran, to the effect that religious sentiment is essentially a response to the threat of loss, old age, and death. Mond argues that in a prosperous, youthful society, there are no losses and therefore no need for religion. John asks Mond if it is natural to feel the existence of God. Mond responds that people believe what they have been conditioned to believe. “Providence takes its cue from men,” he says. John p...

BNW 16

H elmho ltz ,  John , and  Bernard  are brought to  Mustapha Mond's  study. Helmholtz is cheerful. Bernard is nervous and despairing. When Mustapha Mond enters, he shakes hands with all three men, and asks John if he likes civilization. John says no. In response, Mond quotes a line from Shakespeare. When John asks if he's read Shakespeare, he says he's one of the few men in the World State who have. He explains that Shakespeare is forbidden because they want people to consume new things, not old things. Anyway, he says, no one in the World State would understand Shakespeare. Tragedies demand social instability. And the World State has stability. John says the World State seems horrible to him.  Mond cheerfully admits that actual happiness looks "squalid in comparison to the over-compensations for misery."  When  John  objects to the Bokanovsky Twins and caste system,  Mond  tells of an experiment in which the World State filled the...

MY BIG QUESTION RESEARCH

Some people think research is boring because they have to do it for a class, and it's usually about something that's not interesting. And most of the time is they do their research on the internet on GOOGLE, wich is a graet and amazing way to research.  But today I did my researcha littel defferent and it was awesome. I did about my BQ.  Here's how I did it. I had an amazing conversaion with my famaily. We wear just talking aobut how my little cousion is sick and how my aunt needs to find a deffernte sorcerer beacuse the ine that is working with them doesn't do the job, and that got me thinking aoubt my BQ so I asked them... WHY? why wasen't it working, thay said to me maybe because the sorcerer feel like he gets paid well enoagh or maybe he doesn't know as well. And then they also said it maight be beeter if t...

BNW 15

Just as  John  comes into the hallway, the shift-changes. The hall fills with hundreds of Delta twins who line up when an Alpha calls out that it is  soma  distribution time. John is suddenly overwhelmed with anger, and thinks that  soma  caused  Linda's  death. He shouts that  soma  is poison, and tells the Deltas to throw it away. Just the idea terrifies and angers the Deltas. Bernard  and  Helmholtz  get a phone call telling them what the  Savage  is doing. They hurry to the hospital. They arrive just as the Savage starts dropping  soma out the window, causing the Deltas to riot.  Helmholtz  shouts "Men at last!" and runs to help the Savage. The two fight off the Deltas and throw more  soma  out the window. When the police arrive, they spray  soma vapor into the air to quiet the Deltas. The police take  Helmholtz  and the  Savage  into custody.  Ber...

Brave new wrold chapter 14

John flies to the Park Lane Hospital for the Dying where Linda, has been taken. The phone call he received at the end of chapter 13 alerted him to her transfer there. Linda is in a Galloping Senility ward, the function of the ward is give the patients comfort. This is achieved by putting various perfumes in the air, playing pleasant music and letting them watch a television box. The television box at the end of Linda's bed has been tuned to a tennis match. John hurries to see Linda The ward nurse is completely baffled by this behavior. No one in the World State becomes upset about death, it is not in their conditioning. They are conditioned to see death as a normal circumstance and there is no reason to become upset by it. It is highly unusual for someone to be by a dying person's side, so John's presence it a bit bewildering to the nurse. Then John embarrasses the nurse by using the term mother when he had asks her to take him to his mother, Linda. In order to avoid ...

BRAVE NEW WORLD CHAPTER 12

Now I had finished chapter 12 and here are my notes more like a summury of the chapter. The chapter open's up with Bernard hosting a large party of important people such as Arch-Cammunity-Songster. And they were all there to meet "the Savage" (John) but when all the guest arrived John refuesed to come out of his room. And because of that Beranrd was humiliated that he even ended up takeing soma. Lenina was so happy to go at the party and fainaly tell John that she likes him and since he didn't go out she was so disappionted and she thought that it was because John dosen't like her that's the reson why he didn't go out. And Arch-Cammunity-Songster was also mad about the incident and he worng Bernard that he should be more carefuly with the state. And then Bernard friend Helmholtz has gotten into trouble for reading some unorthodox rhymes to his collage students. But then once again he was happy to have his own voice. So they started having meatings Ber...

BOOK CLUB OF ONE

Book club are so useful. Why? Well... Because when there is another person who knows what you are talking about/thinkig about it feel so good and they could also if htere is a patr you dont understand or need a bit more infromaction on the other person know what you are thalking about thata is a big advanage. When you talk to people who dont know whata you are talking about that just feel not good because they don't see whata you see in your head. And that dosen't help infat there are some times that makes you feel bad. Haveing someone to talk to is helpful.

BNW CHAPTER 11

The Director resigns in disgrace, and Bernard is able to keep his job. John, known as “the Savage,” becomes an instant society hit. Linda takes soma continually and falls into a half-awake, half-asleep state of intoxication. Bernard experiences unprecedented popularity as John’s appointed guardian. He boasts about his thriving sex life to Helmholtz, but Helmholtz responds only with a gloomy silence that offends Bernard. Bernard decides to stop speaking to him. He shamelessly parades his unorthodox behavior, thinking that his popularity as the Savage’s discoverer and guardian will protect him. He writes Mond to tell him that John finds “civilized infantility” too easy. Bernard says he agrees with John’s verdict. Mond, reading the heretical letter, thinks he might have to teach Bernard a lesson. Oh! Also Lenina likes John too but she don't know if he likes her...
